Program Length   14:45
Grades    4-6
Taping Rights   School Yr (Sept-Jun)
Series Description
Designed for students in grades 4 through 6, 'Cultural Horizons of North America' takes a look at cultural heritage and diversity with a focus on the present day. Cultural studies have traditionally been taught in terms of ethnicity and race. But culture involves much more than race and ethnicity. This series depicts a group of target-age, culturally diverse students in a creative learning space from which they examine the many aspects of culture. Magazine-style video segments present real-life examples. Effective strategies for experiencing unfamiliar cultural phenomena, for battling stereotypes and prejudice, and for celebrating diversity are modeled.
